Undertakers Circus - Ragnarock (1973)

Undertakers Circus - Ragnarock (1973)

Undertakers Circus was a band from Lillestrom that existed between 1967 and 1976 . Despite the name was undertakers Circus is one of the earliest Norwegian rock bands singing in Norwegian, and a number of texts had a political sting, including the band tune to two poems by Rudolf Nilsen , while others talked about Norwegian history and Norse mythology . Musically, the band was inspired by bands like Blood, Sweat & Tears and Chicago and played rock music at full blast range. The band's first single was the English-speaking "Little Boy Blue," with the b-side "Gotta Get Away", released in 1968 . Then, four years before the band's next release, the single "Riil køntri music" / "Menuet silicosis," published in 1972 , as irony crocheted of musical snobbery, and that even though the music is not typical of the band, would become the band's biggest hit. Musically, this song was based on " Nashville Cats "by The Lovin 'Spoonful , and was also included on the compilation disc Norwegian top 2. This was followed by the debut album Ragna Rock. The album was recorded in February 1973 with Johnny Sareussen as a producer, and released later that year. Their debut album, with the single and its b-side bonus tracks were remastered and reissued by the Pan Records in 2004 . One of the songs on the disc was " The nights princess , "where the text was written by Thor S. Greni and music by Eigil Berg. This song appeared eight years later on Berg's solo album Alhambra as the " Queen Of The Night "and in 1999 as " Long Distance Mon "on the album Electric Psalmbook with BigBang - with new text written by band leader Øystein Greni , son of Thor Greni.
In 1975 came the band's second LP, Bread & Circus, this time as undertakers Circus (now written with k). This was only four of the eleven members who had been involved in the Ragna Rock continued. Manufacturer of plate was Nils Bjarne Kvam . Shortly after the band dissolved. Since the band has had several reunion concerts. ~ Wikipedia
